A Simple Approach to Living With Less

Up and Coming Updates from Minimalist at Home

Kid Looking Through Binoculars

It’s time for my weekly update on my Minimize Yo Butt progress. Actually, it’s a little past time as this post is going out later than normal today. I thought I would throw in a mini update about this site as well. So here we go!

My Minimize Yo Butt Update

I have been continuing to eat pretty well and stick to my new Paleo diet. I have had some moments of weakness and I still allow myself to have a “guilt free day” on the weekend. I could probably be making faster progress without those indulgences, but I’m finding myself splurging less and less even when I allow myself to.

I did have a mid-week cheat though. After a stressful meeting, I scarfed down two fun-size candy bars on my ride home. I never really thought of myself as one who eats like that during stress, but maybe I am. It’s just another reason not to keep junk food around that can be a temptation.

I have not been exercising like I should be. I could say that I’ve been too busy. It is true that I’ve been busier than normal, but I still need to figure out a way to make it a priority. I don’t think I exercised at all this week. Shame on me…and on “Move Yo’ Butt” week too!

I’ve been trying not to obsess about the scale this week. When I got on it today, I did a happy dance when I saw that I’m down a total of 5 pounds! Not super fast, but we’re still going in the right direction. For my frame, every five pounds makes a big difference in how I feel and how my clothes fit. I’m hoping my clothes start to fall of me pretty soon!

I am excited to report that so far I have 4 prizes planned for the giveaway at the end of Minimize Yo Butt! Make sure that you’re participating on the Facebook page to be eligible for the giveaways. I’d love to hear how you’re doing and we’d all love to encourage you!

What’s Up & Coming

Now for a couple updates about this site:

I am not becoming a fitness blogger. I hope you’re enjoying the Minimize Yo Butt fitness challenge. If you thought this site was supposed to be about minimalism and keeping life simple, you’re correct. The fitness challenge runs through the end of August and then after that, the topics will return to normal.

Minimalist at Home will be getting a new look. I’m not quite sure when the unvealing will occur yet, but don’t be scared if you come here and things look a little different. I have a little bit of time in between web design projects and I’m really excited to change things up a bit. The goal is to make the information here more organized and accessible. So stay tuned for more!

That’s it for now. I hope to hear from you in the comments and let me know what’s new with you as well!

If you enjoyed this post, please consider signing up for updates or follow me on Twitter. The only way my blog reaches more people is if you Tweet it, Like it on Facebook, or share it with your friends. Thanks so much for reading!

  1. Don’t beat yourself up when you do falter. Apply 80/20 rule… it’s habits for life you are forming and none of us are perfect 100% of the time. To be perfect 80% is some going 🙂
Well done on the 5 lbs that’s fantastic and right on track for 3 weeks… 1-2lbs a week is ideal…
Thanks for the inspiration once again, it’s made me that little bit more vigilant, and knowing others are participating is a great motivator!
    Have a great weekend!

  2. I am finding that to make exercise happen it has to be built into my routine. I was working out in the morning as soon as I got up. And that worked fairly well. I am now trying to get my husband into the exercise habit since he seems to be compliant right now after not-so-good lab numbers last week, so we are trying to walk every evening. I am working to coordinate mealtime and the planning around the heat and intermittent showers we have been having in the south this summer. My goal is to get a good habit of walking EVERY night in place. That way if we do miss, it is not horrific. If you plan 3 nights a week and it rains or he works late, then it starts dwindling. Having it be an every day habit helps with the consistency. And I lost 3 pounds this week and he lost 4!
    Yay!
