The Minimize Yo’ Butt Challenge begins this Monday, July 18th. I am sure you are counting down the days just like me . .  you are, aren’t you?

In case you’re wondering what to expect with the challenge, this post is here so you will wonder no more. In case you missed the first post on where Minimize Yo’ Butt came from, you might want to check it out now.

The Basics

This is a 6-week fitness challenge. It starts on July 18th and ends on August 29th.

The challenge began with the personal realization that in my quest to become a minimalist, I had neglected to minimize my toosh. I talk a lot about setting priorities so I finally decided that I need to make my health a priority.

I decided to take the challenge public because I need the accountability. When I started sharing the idea with some of my friends, they immediately wanted to get on board. It seems that the need to minimize your butt is fairly common . . . who knew?

If you are luckier than I am and do not have the need to minimize yo’ butt, we’d still love to have you on the challenge. I don’t know anyone who couldn’t use some improvement in the health department. Maybe you need to drink more water, lower your cholesterol, or just develop the habit of moving around more often (I think I have an aversion to the word “exercise”). Whatever your personal goal is, let us know and we’ll help cheer you on.

What to Expect

During the six weeks of the challenge there will be a lot more activity here and on the Facebook page. I need a lot of hand holding when I’m developing a new habit (and breaking bad ones) so I’ll be looking to each of you for moral support.

In case it wasn’t clear already, I am not a fitness guru. I am not here to teach you from my own experiences.

You can count on me to share quality information, fitness resources, and motivational tips with you. I will be active in this challenge alongside of you and I’m counting on your participation.

The Structure

1st Week of MYB: There will be a post every single day this week. We will be starting the challenge off with a BANG and gearing up for the excitement!

Mondays & Wednesdays: These days will have new fitness related posts here on the blog.

Fridays: I will do weekly recaps of any outside materials I’ve come across and post it in a nice convenient weekly post. I will also give weekly updates of my own progress minimizing my butt.

Special Page: There is also a Minimize Yo’ Butt page here on the blog where I will post resources and products for the Minimize Yo’ Butt Challenge. I’ll be updating it throughout the entire six weeks.

Everyday on Facebook: I will post daily check-in reminders on the Facebook page. This is where the bulk of the support will happen. You won’t want to miss out, so make sure you “like” Minimalist at Home. I’ll also use Facebook as the place to post other articles and tips I find throughout the week.

The Goals

I have two goals with this challenge:

  1. I want to minimize my butt.
  2. I want to help you do the same AND get to know you better in the process.

I’m not here to just talk to myself and about myself. I’m here to get to know you, your struggles, and help any way I can.

  1. Confession: I’m indulging this weekend in preparation for a clean start on Monday to MYB. I did run 10k today but I’m probably going to eat those calories in the next 48 hours.

    I’m so happy you are running this, Faith. I really needed a push to get back into committed workouts and the MYB Fitness Challenge is it.

  3. Make that 3 of us. My daughter’s birthday party was this weekend, and I just could let that extra birthday cake go to waste! But I’m in and I’m ready to go!

    All in all, I’d like to lose 20 pounds. The same 20 I’ve been trying to lose for the past 2 years. I dislike the word ‘exercise’ too, so my *activities* will be intervals 3 times a week and resistance training 2 times a week. Walking more.

    I’ll be going back to eating paleo/primal which has always made me feel good. And water! Lots of it! I’m excited about all this. It’s going to be a great 6 weeks. 🙂
