A Simple Approach to Living With Less

Where is Minimalist Moms?

I decided to change the name from Minimalist Moms to Minimalist at Home for a couple key reasons. The content and the message are the same. I’m simply expanding the site and working hard to make it a better resource for everyone.

1) The message of minimalism is for everyone.

Originally, I aimed my site at moms because the minimalist community doesn’t seem to address families very often. When I started looking for sites on minimalism for families I had a really hard time finding information that applied to me. Since I am a mom it seemed only natural to focus on moms as my main audience.

However, thanks to some brave men commenting on my site, I realized I have a message to share that is applicable to everyone. You don’t have to have kids, be married, or be anything other than interested in cutting out unnecessary things from your life.

2) You can be a minimalist no matter where you live.

My journey to minimalism occurs at home. There is a large group of minimalists who travel abroad, live out of backpacks, and have location independent lives. If that is the type of minimalism for you, then I think that is awesome. One day, I hope to have that kind of flexibility for our family. I am here to let people know that there is more than one way to pursue a minimalist lifestyle. No matter where your home is, you can be a minimalist.

I hear from a lot of people who say, “I’m not a minimalist, but . . .” and then they go on to describe how they are trying to simplify their life. I don’t want you to be afraid of the term “minimalist.” It’s not a bad thing to make choices and set priorities for you and your family. Minimalism is about taking back more of your life by getting rid of the mess that is in the way.

I’m so thankful that you’ve found me at my new online home. I want to thank you if you’ve been a long term reader at Minimalist Moms. You’ve helped shape me and my work, and you’ve given me the vision for this new site. If you are new here to Minimalist at Home, I want to welcome you. I would love to hear what you think about the new site or any other comments or questions you might have. I cherish the community feel we have and I look forward to your comments whenever I write.
